  1. The minutes were distributed and approved as presented.
  2. Danny Sessums distributed copies of the Income and Expense Report which shows that the FBLP has a balance of $120.00. Danny stated that he had paid the balance for the P.O. Box rental using his personal funds, as the Post Office would not accept our checks. Our checks are blank and do not have information printed on them. Candace moved to repay Danny the $66.00 rental fee. Kevin seconded. The motion passed. The remaining balance after this expenditure would be $54.00.
  3. Committee Reports:
    • County Fair Booth; Danny Sessums reported that the fair booth had been paid for and that he would like persons to volunteer for 2-4 hour work periods during the fair (9/29-10/7). Currently Judy Baker, candidate for Lt. Governor indicated that she would volunteer her time. Art Faye had purchased copies of the Declaration of Independence and Constitution for distribution. Danny again indicated that he would provide tri-corn hats and will dress in revolutionary war attire to attract visitors.
    • Mock Elections; David Finberg reported that he had spoken to HCCS in Stafford and that they would be interested in Mock Elections. Further, he had investigated FBISD and was told that primarily principals of each school would make decisions about the mock elections. David would schedule an appointment to speak with Elkins. Michael Lee stated that he would assist David in contacting other school regarding mock elections.
    • GOTV; Kevin reported that he had door hangars and was working to establish a systematic block walking effort. He expected a 1-5% response from the door hangars GOTV. Stan Norred was working with Galveston teams. The normal expectation is that 5 people can hit about 1,000 houses in 4 hours. Kevin indicated that the block walkers should skip registered Democrats and Michael Lee said that for his precinct he would hit every house because his location was majority Republican.
  4. Old Business:
    • Shirts – Kevin reported that our logo had been produced with an embroidery company on Murphy Road. The embroidering will cost about $7.00 per shirt and Kevin indicated that we should purchase polo-type golf shirts and that we could sell them to other LP counties with any difference in cost being a contribution to the FBLP as a donation.
    • Campaigns – Kevin reported the Smither campaign was getting some press. He said also they are using a system for calling Republicans and need recruits for the process. All that is needed is a computer and a telephone and a script is provided for ease of use.
  5. New Business –
    • Ron Paul Birthday Bash – Kevin stated that there had been a good showing by LPs last year and hoped that the FBLP could provide that same support this year. Kevin will be there officially as a State Committee member.
    • Volunteers Coordinator – David suggested that he though we needed an official volunteer coordinator to assist in GOTV efforts. He stated that he could like the job and nominated himself. Candace seconded and the motion passed.
  6. The meeting adjourned at approximately 4:51 p.m.
